New Delhi, May 18th 2019:

World Punjabi organisation unveiled the plan for the year long celebrations of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Padma Shri Vikramjit Sahney , International President of the #World_Punjabi_Organisation (WPO) unfolded the roadmap of the celebrations proposed to be held world wide.

Talking about the year ahead in which the world would witness one of its kinds of celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev ji, Mr Sahney said, “Events would be held all across the world including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iraq, Iran, UK, USA and Canada. The Sikh Community Worldwide believes in the message of Guru Nanak Dev ji and continues to spread the word of brotherhood. Guru Nanak Dev had unified all humankind with his message of love.”
Celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev ji’s 550th birth anniversary will start from the neighbouring countries where Guru Nanak Dev during his lifetime had traveled and spread the message of love and peace. These include Nepal, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Sri Lanka , Tibet etc. “Thematic conferences, Panel discussions and interactions, Documentaries, Exhibitions of paintings on the life of Guru Nanak Dev, Talks by Scholars, light and sound show, with a flagship event on Interfaith & Tolerance will be some of the highlights of these events,” added Mr Vikramjit Singh Sahney.

A film supported by World Punjabi Organisation is being produced on various travels of Guru Nanak Dev, by Sr. Amardeep Photography He shared insights from his journey in the making of the film Allegory – A Tapestry of Guru Nanak’s Travels within India and Asia. The film unfolds various spiritual and humanitarian aspects on Guru Nanak’s life and emphasises on his principles. Sr Amardeep Singh talked about the touch points that came across his journey of making the film.

Vikram Sahney said, “Guru Nanak Dev Ji was one of India’s greatest philosophers, teachers and social reformers. Born in an epoch when the Indian society was caste-riddled, Guru Nanak’s voice was an empowering call to unshackle the human mind of centuries of religious and political tyranny and for the creation of a new Egalitarian order, Gender Equality, One God One Human and Once Race.
These announcements came in continuation of the celebrations by World Punjabi Organisation that began with the Gurbani recitation in August last year at Pravasi Kendra, New Delhi as universal brotherhood year which was announced in the presence of Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Union External Affairs Minister.
