World Punjabi Organisation felicitate Parliamentarians of Indian Origin and Prominent NRIs on 7th January, 2010 at Hotel Le-Meridien.
It was night of Punjabi bonhomie in the national captital where Canadian MP Dr. Ruby Dhalla mentioned how the times were changing for the Punjabi community living in other countries.She said a hospital in Canada has been named the Guru Nanak Hospital. The hospital in her constituency, Brampton-Springdale, shows how the community was being accepted and doing well in Canada.
Punjabi is the fourth largest group of languages spoken in Canada, said Dhalla, Punctuating her words with chaste Punjabi. she was among the visiting diaspora that graced the function organised by the World Punjabi Orgnisation. Some of the prominent guests who graced the occasion were Dr. Ruby Dhalla–Canadian MP, Lord Diljit Rana–UK, Baroness Sandeep verma–UK, Baron Karan F. On this occasion Dr. Ruby Dhalla and Lord Diljit Rana were presented with “Pride of India” award by WPO
While expressing his views Mr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney asked the diaspora to carry on the good work of setting up schools and dispensaries in their areas. he said the community was doing very well across the globe and should strive to do better.
